This article or section contains questionable, contentious or controversial information. See the talk page for more information.
A main function is the more detailed description to landuse=industrial or usage=industrial
Tag Element Comments Instances
industrial=brickyard node area  Brickyard - A site where a brick making factory is located.
industrial=depot node area A place where vehicles are stored and served. Apart from landuse=garages, area and vehicles at industrial=depot usually belong to the single entity (transportation company, police or firefighter's department, etc.). See also landuse=depot.
industrial=distributor node area A distributor for some product. Does not generally sell to the public.
industrial=gas node area Sometimes used for a site where natural petroleum gas is extracted or produced – see also industrial=oil below.
As of 29 January 2023 note: Many uses of industrial=gas are related to infrastructure features like pipelines, substations or storage tanks. Now these uses are deprecated by Proposed features/Utility facilities.
You might also consider a more specific value for the industrial land use instead of "gas". See taginfo.
industrial=logistics node area  Logistics - The business of transporting and delivering goods. See also Oxford Learner's Dictionaries.
industrial=mine node area  Mine - A site where mineral resources are extracted from the ground. See also landuse=quarry.
industrial=mobile_equipment node area A site where mobile equipment of some kind is sold or rented.
industrial=oil node area  Oil industry - includes the global processes of exploration, extraction, refining, and marketing petroleum products.
industrial=port node area  Port - An area handling commercial traffic. Alternative to landuse=port that is friendlier to data consumers by not requiring support of quickly growing list of landuse values.
industrial=scrap_yard node area  Wrecking yard - A site where decommissioned vehicles are brought for dismantling.
industrial=shipyard node area  Shipyard - A place where ships are constructed.
industrial=warehouse node area A site with buildings where goods are stored and shipped from but not manufactured ( Warehouse). There are some uses of industrial=storage to tag open-air storage, without further elaboration.
industrial=well_cluster node area Petroleum (gas or oil) well cluster
industrial=wellsite node area Petroleum (gas or oil) well site
industrial=refinery node area Petroleum refinery
Other key values used, which mainly describe facilities or buildings and thus could also be tagged by man_made=works + product=*.
Tag Element Comments Instances
industrial=bakery node area  Bakery - industrial facility that produces flour-based food.
industrial=furniture node area
industrial=grinding_mill node area  Grinding mill - a device that breaks solid materials into smaller pieces by grinding, crushing, or cutting. The aftermath is powdered product, not liquid extract like oil mill.
industrial=heating_station node area Heat production station. See  District heating. Should be combined with power=* tag.
industrial=machine_shop node area
industrial=slaughterhouse node area  Slaughterhouse - place where animals are slaughtered.
industrial=cooling node area HVAC
