Helo Berteun,

I am can not convert maps from source GPSfileDepot, program terminates after about 15 seconds see error below. It does create file NE USA TOPO Part3.gmapi but it is only 25KB which seem way too small. The corresponding TDB file is 20KB, and the img file is 2.8MB.

Hello Berteun,

After installing a .gmapi with your graphical tool, I get this error in RoadTrip:

Exception thrown /RoadTrip202/RoadTrip2.0.2/libs/TDB/impl/ TDB_RegionDir.cpp:102

Any idea why this might be? I am closely following the directions provided at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Cycle_map to create the tdb and img files.

Thanks!, Digitalwright

Hello Berteun,

I have been using your Gmapibuilder for some time: it is great! You state, however, that "Currently routable maps are not supported[...]".

Despite this, I compiled routable maps using the new mkgmap routing functions and then converted them to GMAPI format on my Mac: they seem to work fine (at least within the restrictions of the experimental mkgmap routing). What is in your opinion missing for the conversion of routable maps in Gmapibuilder?

Hello Berteun,

Thanks for the useful program. It works well with the files from http://openmtbmap.org/download/ but not the files from http://www.smc.org.uk/ContourMaps.php

When I try to convert the SMC maps Gmapibuilder steps through some but not all of the image files, and then pops up a box just like the 'success' box that want to see but with no title and and no text in it, and stops.

Hello Berteun,

I've been looking everywhere for the app Gmapibuilder. The link on your page turns out to be a dead end for me. Could anyone post a working link or even send it to me directly?

Looking forward to use it CHunter

Hello Berteun,

I've been trying to use gmapi-builder.py script to convert map created with mkgmap version r1188 and it spits out following error:

Unknown Block: 54, length: 20, '\x00\x00\xc5\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00Y\x00\x00\x82\x00\x00\x00\x00;\x00\x00'

It does generate .gmapi folder that I can import with "GarminMapManager", but "RoadTrip" refuses to open it complaining that the map "contained some errors and cannot be displayed". Any idea how this can be fixed?

To all of those here

I'll take a look at this next week; the download links should be fixed however! I'm sorry for the absence, I lost some interest after having lost my device myself.

Hi !

Is there a way to make img-files from a gmapi ? --flacus 19:11, 12 October 2011 (BST)

No Mapname

Hi Thanks for this great software. It creates a map Called OSM map.gmapi

I have the following problem after installing a map with Map Manager or Mapinstall the Map does not have a Name. With MapManager it does not show after installation. When I close and open MapManager ist shows the map but the name field is empty. I can open the map with basecamp but still it has no name. I also can open it with the Gps but also no Name. What am I doing wrong?
