'Nagarukhra' is a town/city in West Bengal, India at latitude 22°56′24.00″ North, longitude 88°38′24.00″ East.

Geography

Nagarukhra (bn:নগরউখড়া) is a populous town [1] in Kalyani subdivision under Nadia district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Nagarukhra is a tier 3 [2] town under the population of 10,000 to 49,999, even still holding the tag of Village Panchayat[3].

It is located around 51 kilometres far from Kolkata - the capital of West Bengal and 66 kilometres far from Krishnagar - the district headquarter. Nagarukhra is situated in the administrative border of Nadia and North 24 pargana district and beside the bank of Jamuna River(West Bengal).

Demographics

As of 2021 India census, Nagarukhra Urban (sadar) had a population of 22,409, and overall town had a population of 49,922, comprising 26,052 males[4] and 23,869 females[5]. Nagarukhra has an average literacy rate of 83.91%, with 1,309 (9.66%) of the population between 0–6 years of age.[6][7]

Police Station

Nagarukhra police station is newly established police administration covering the judicial activities over the town and it's neighbouring areas. Before the entire block area was under the Haringhata police station administration, later the new police station was constructed at Nagarukhra to co-ordinate the regulations and judicial activities. The Police st. is situated beside the bank of Jamuna River, near Nagarukhra Public Bus Terminal in Nagarukhra.

Post Office

Nagarukhra has a delivery sub post office, with Postal Index Number 741257 in the South Presidency Division of Nadia district in Kolkata region. The other post offices with the same PIN is Dighalgram, Haripukuria, Kasthodanga, Mahadebpur, Nimtala bazar.[8]

Electricity Board

The WBSEDCL (West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited) is responsible as a leading Power Utility services organization of Nagarukhra. This Government based electricity company serves electric service to the entire area and households. It also serves electric connection to its neighbour localities. Nagarukhra wbsedcl CCC is the Regional control office for WBSEDCL customer service.

Education

There are three Higher Secondary Schools in Nagarukhra.

  • Nagarukhra High School is the oldest Higher Secondary school beside 53/B, Habra Road, Nagarukhra-I.
  • Nagarukhra Kshetra-Mohan Girls' High School is the Girls' Higher secondary school located near Simulpukur 4 lane crossing, Nagarukhra-I.
  • Dighalgram Netaji Vidyapith is also a higher secondary school at Dighalgram, near Chowmatha crossing, Nagarukhra-II.

These schools are undertaken by West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, except that there are many kindergarten schools and Private English Medium Schools are available in this area.

Transport

Nagarukhra is situated on Kanchrapara - Nagarukhra - Bongaon Intercity Road. This road connects the National Highway -112 in East near Gaighata and National Highway -12 in West near Barajaguli and continuously spread towards west and cross the Kalyani Expressway in Kanchrapara near Kampa Airfield.

The total distance of the Intercity road is 32 km. which playing the role as a through service between two most important National Highway as a connector intercity road. This road is a part of Major Industrial Belt and Major District Road of Kolkata Suburban Area. Connecting North 24 pgs. district with Nadia district and entire region of Ganga river delta. Central Government sanctioned for upgradation of this road from two lane to four lane as because Kalyani AIIMS playing a crucial role in the district of Nadia and surrounding areas.
