Proposed venue

Girona Auditorium and Conference Centre. The venue has rooms for 400 and 180 people, which seem adequate for holding the State of the Map.

Short impression how the State of the Map 2010 would look like

Your typical SotM - three days of conferences, night life, nice environment. Girona still has a few unmapped zones, so a pre-SotM mapping party would be in order.

Girona is also home to the Jornadas de SIG Libre, so some people maybe have been already to the city.

Information about the city

Girona has its own airport (IATA: GRO, ICAO: LEGE), which is used as Ryanair's hub, so everybody should be able to get a cheap-ish flight. From there it's 10-20 minutes to the city centre in a bus or taxi.

Another ways of getting there are flying to Barcelona (IATA: BCN, ICAO: LEBL) or Perpignan (IATA: PGF, ICAO: LFMP), and taking a bus or train to Girona (60-90 minutes).

Cost estimates

The venue has been asked for a prelimiary quote, but it still hasn't replied. AFAIK, the venue has no other events programmed on the dates SotM would be held.

People organising the Jornadas de SIG Libre would likely help out reaching potential sponsors.
