A wedge barrier (also called a rising kerb or hydraulic road barricade) is a kind of retractable barrier, shaped like a wedge or flap, that is level with the road surface until it automatically rises out of the ground to physically block all traffic from passing through. Wedge barriers are typically installed at checkpoints (military=checkpoint, police=checkpoint) and other high-security locations.

How to map

Add the barrier=wedge tag to a node that is part of the roadway. For more detail, you can also draw a way across the roadway, tag it also with barrier=wedge and connect it to the node.

Like a rising bollard (bollard=rising), a wedge barrier may be normally in the open position or normally in the closed position, so always tag access=* to indicate whether it is normally passable. If it is access=private, remember to tag access=private on any roads beyond the barrier that can only be accessed by passing the barrier.
