Status: de facto

A direct public entrance to a shop which is not a main entrance. This can happen for example in apartment buildings where shops have their own entrances.

Do not use this when the primary function of a building is a single shop. For instance, a supermarket building: use entrance=main for the entrance.

Entrance to shop not used by clients would be entrance=service

Create a node on the edge of the building, add entrance=shop on it. The shop itself is tagged separately, typically as its own POI, do not mix tags with the entrance node. This goes for anything in the shop=* category, and also restaurants, pharmacies or other similar businesses.

This image shows two entrances to an industrial building. The green gate serves as service entrance (entrance=service) to the building, and to its right is a cafe with its own shop entrance (entrance=shop).
