Why different tags?
@SK53: Why did you propose different tags for horse jumps in the countryside (horse_jump) and for horse jumps on racecourses (steeplechase_jump)? What is the difference between these two kinds of horse jumps except the location? barrier=horse_jump is also used for horse jumps on racecourses (without subtag horse_jump=steeplechase, which is not used so far). --Hufkratzer (talk) 11:47, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
- In general these are of quite different construction & purpose: professional vs. amateur riders; fixed parameters & safety features vs 'incidental' feature of the countryside, solidity, etc. However the page allows for steeplechase jumps to be subtagged using this tag if desired. I also note that I neglect hurdles on racecourses in the text (i.e., hurdles and steeplechase jumps are different). The main reason is that I have not needed to map racecourses in detail whereas I needed a suitable tag to map those which are built into regular fences, hedges and horse routes in the countryside. Obstacles as areas
Is there a reason why a barrier=horse_jump (or other variations) can't be tagged as an area? An obstacle such as a berm is simply larger than a single node or way. For example: Ierse berm Vakonof (talk) 18:02, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
Permanent hedge obstacles on a hippodrome
How do you propose that a hedge wich is permanently present on a horse track within a hippodrome is tagged? As a way barrier=hedge with a node barrier=horse_jump (or alternative) in the middle; Or as a way barrier=horse_jump. Vakonof (talk) 18:08, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
