When I invented this tag, I didn't expect history to repeat in the way it does now. That said, I think that your question is purely academic. New bomb craters aren't immediately mapped in OSM, because they aren't visible in aerial images or LIDAR yet, and local people are busy with other things when a war is going on. The craters will either be flattened when devastations are cleaned up, or become historic soon. In a strict sense, they are historic as soon as they are there, because they are nothing more than relics of past incidents. I don't know about bomb tests, though. If any craters are repeatedly used for bomb tests, other keys such as military=* or man_made=* might be more appropriate in those cases. --Fkv (talk) 20:20, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
