misuse of brand value?

"Use brand=* to express if they are specialized on Linux; Microsoft; Apple or others." - I removed this part

First of all it is rare to have it office specialized in this way. And anyway it would be misuse of brand tag. Company ExpensiveLameHosting operating linux servers is operating under ExpensiveLameHosting brand, not under Linux brand Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 10:06, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

It was added in https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Tag:office%3Dit&diff=prev&oldid=1665142 from looking at history Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 10:08, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
What do you mean by "rare to have it office specialized in this way" ? There's a bunch of small IT offices / companies which may not be called a "shop" as they specialize in all kinds of IT, may it be CRM / PDM / ERP / EAM etc. or hardware. Some also offer services such as servicemanagement or consulting of all kinds. How would you express those distinctive features ? rtfm Rtfm (talk) 21:39, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
"rare to have it office specialized in this way" - it seems rare to me to have IT office dealing with solely Windows or solely Linux and so on. Though fundamental issues is anyway "Company ExpensiveLameHosting operating linux servers is operating under ExpensiveLameHosting brand, not under Linux brand" part Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 06:42, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
True, that's only an example, the reality is more differentiated (than based on OS). No idea what your "ExpensiveLameHosting" fetish is about. But what would you propose for a differentiated syntax to express what those companies are offering ? Rtfm Rtfm (talk) 23:28, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
"No idea what your "ExpensiveLameHosting" fetish is about." I think that this word does not mean what you think - see https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/fetish "But what would you propose" - I am not aware about good tagging scheme for that and I am not planning to spend time on inventing one Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 13:13, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

IT services on Linux / macOS / Windows

It may be very useful sometime to tag officies giving services to specific software families. Here the related discussion: --Valeriobozz (talk) 10:32, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
