Sport or Leisure?

Sport is something done regularly, while these rope courses are an occasional leisure adventure. Thus, leisure=climbing_adventure would be a better fit, or the leisure=high_ropes_course proposed here.

Seems right, but seems to be in heavy use so should be discussed in osm-talk ML or similar before changing anything. RicoZ (talk) 10:33, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
147 items is not what I would call heavy use, and looking into the wiki history it was not discussed properly before being introduced. leisure=high_ropes_course has 21, plus a dozen alternative spellings. Not too late to discuss on the tagging list and here to tidy up. The definition has weaknesses as well, the participants do not get "mountain hiking accessories", they get a harness that resembles an industrial harness more than the one used for sports climbing. --Polarbear w (talk) 21:19, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Agreed that this doesn't fit in the sport key. I would rather see this in the leisure key since anybody can do it, kids included. Also "treetop climbing" is not known as a sport. Take note that this is duplicated with the discussion on the leisure key.--SHARCRASH (talk) 14:02, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
Kids can also play football, tennis and climb - and I could easily show you a large number of people who can't do any climbing adventure ever. Many "sports" can be considered leisure and many other tags have ambiguities like this. RicoZ (talk) 12:03, 24 October 2018 (UTC)
Sorry, what i meant is that it's an easy activity, hence when i said "kids included", doesn't have any rules, nor sense of competition like a sport would have. The structures built for treetop climbing are meant for occasional leisure, not really to improve body or mental attributes for competition. --SHARCRASH (talk) 15:06, 24 October 2018 (UTC)
I understand. Don't have a strong opinion on this but watching other more popular sport/leisure ambiguities the trend seems to be that in the end both sport and leisure tags get established. As this is not such a popular feature this probably won't be the best solution in this case so I would just wait how things develop? Btw.. watchlist doesn't seem to work for me right now so don't worry if you don't see replies for some time. RicoZ (talk) 21:44, 24 October 2018 (UTC)
Sport or leisure is a more of an attitude towards an endeavor--not sure how to tag! On a more relevant note: "climbing_adventure" doesn't seem suited to its use here. What is described is a challenge course. Climbing adventure makes me think of getting into the alpine or at least some proper cragging.
