Thank you for your interest and time. A bit about me-
I am a Geospatial professional- founder of Mil Geospatial LLC, entrepreneurial consulting firm, recognized as a small, woman-owned business and a minority-owned enterprise. We have a diverse team with expertise in using geographic technologies to inform and improve communities and services. One of our company’s core values is to leverage our success and skills to uplift others.
Presently teaching elective on maps, drones and data to middle and high school students, I had the opportunity to introduce open-source mapping with TeachOSM, a OpenStreetMap U.S initiative. I witnessed, first-hand, a high level of student engagement and interest while implementing "Mapping for a cause" lesson plan with OSM US. I plan on expanding TeachOSM within the school and the education industry.
Community matters and I am passionate about giving back to our community, especially for causes that directly impact our marginalized populations. I have served on the board of several non-profit organizations and currently serve on the board of New Life Center (NLC)- Arizona’s largest domestic violence shelter. In a Executive Director position, for a non-profit, a few years ago. I was involved in all aspects of operations including fundraising. I hope to share these experiences and knowledge in order to support our OSM US Executive Director and OSM US board.
Mil Geospatial was founded 10 years ago. Over this period we have established long term and emerging clients nation-wide and across Arizona. Working with several rural and Native American tribal communities, with their stark digital divide and the lack of access to data. Leveraging OSM maps to bridge the gap and facilitate data equity and inclusion is one my goals, given the opportunity to serve on the OSM US board.
My involvement with OSM US in various capacities include- State of the Map US conference sponsor, contributor and an end user. OSM US mission and core values resonates with me personally and professionally.
Being born and raised in India, I am fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi and have conversational skills in German. Currently, I live and work in the Phoenix area in Arizona.
