After mapping. Everyone enjoying a drink by Royal Victoria Dock

This was the 13th Mapping Party in the Summer 2008 London Mapping Marathon series in Docklands, East London.

When : Wednesday 30th July - Evening.

Where: Canning Town, East London (normal map, unnamed streets map)

Getting to Canning Town

Various transport options. Check the tube map

Canning Town Station is on the Jubilee line and DLR

But if you're on the DLR, take your pick of any station which is passing through the cake diagram. On the Beckton branch you could get off at Royal Victoria (very close to the pub), Custom House, Princes Regent, Royal Albert or Gallions Reach. The King George V branch is not as helpful for access to the cake, but you could get off at West Silvertown, Pontoon Dock, London City Airport, of King George V.

Older tube maps show that you can also approach the area via the overground railway, but this now doesn't extend South beyond Stratford.

The pub

We are going to a bar/restaurant called Caribbean Scene on the corner of the dock front (map). It has tables and chairs outside, and next to it is a floating marketing suite.

It's 15-20 minutes walking distance from Canning Town station, or, just take the DLR 1 stop from Canning Town (towards Prince Regent and Beckton) to Royal Victoria on the DLR, which is less than a 5 minute walk from the bar.

1. Probably makes sense for me to do this section because it's the one I'm already mapping (on foot), and I've got a fairly good idea what still needs doing - SchematicMapper

2. SchematicMapper if I finish the first section
