Organised Editing/Activities/Adding missing buildings in Porto

Background

As part of on-going work to improve the quality of OpenStreetMap data, we recently received the feedback from the user about the huge number of buildings in Porto missing on OSM. Our plan is to review most of missing building in Porto and add them on OSM. We are going to start review on 13th of December.

Tools and ground-truth sources

We will use existing OpenStreetMap editing tools, and using the hashtag #mapbox_building_pt

  • Editor: iD or JOSM
  • Satellite Imagery: Orthophotos of mainland Portugal - 25cm - 2018 (DGT), Maxar, Esri.
  • Street Level Imagery: Mapillary, other open sources if available.

Results

Timeline: 12/13-01/10 (14 working days, due to Christmas holidays).

Results: added 4765 buildings.
