Contributions from the community are essential in ensuring that spatial data is updated in an open and participatory approach. Government, academics, communities, and society are all integral to participatory mapping using OSM. This will significantly improve the process of achieving the humanitarian goals campaigned by OSM and its Community. Based on data from the BNPB Indonesia, from the beginning of 2022 to the end of March 2022, there have been more than 1000 disaster events that have caused more than 1.5 million people to suffer. This is where POI (Perkumpulan OpenStreetMap Indonesia) and OSM play a role as one of the many actors to contribute to disaster risk reduction, support sustainable development to provide capacity building assistance for vulnerable communities.

Therefore, POI wants to accelerate this process through a program that facilitates the OSM community in Indonesia to actively participate in increasing traffic for activities, ideas and concepts related to mapping with OSM and other related activities. This is expected to be one of the triggers for the OSM community in Indonesia to become more active in contributing to activities aimed at realizing the targets of the SDGs through OSM. POI then established an agreement with Open Mapping Hub - Asia Pacific to support in accelerating OSM-related activity in Indonesia through Booster Grants 2022.
