Proposal talk:Laboratory:biosafety level

The biosafety level is determined by a licensing authority following World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines, so the licensing authority should also be captured as that is where the data will originate. I would expect this data to be captured from the appropriate licensing authory and the source document referenced. Due to the specifity of the level I would not expect casual mapping of this data.

A tag with the name "biosafety_level:source" could be added, in which a URL or the name of the licensing authority can be stored as a data source. I think this data is explicitly interesting for biosafety level three and four laboratories, but for the completeness of the information it should also be possible to tag level one and two laboratories. -- TheKeineAhnung 18:12, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
That's how you obtained the data, not exactly the certifying authority. *:operator=* is used for this in heritage:operator=* , although maybe awkward.

Yes, I think you're right about the use of the operator tag. I think it is or should be used in most research centres and laboratories already, so we should not include it in this proposal? -- TheKeineAhnung 20:42, 02 April 2024 (UTC)

Include more information in the proposal

The proposal description really should include some more information and links about what the biosafety level is and how it is determined. Woazboat (talk) 15:39, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

I've added some information about what the biosafety level is and how it's determined. I hope they are good. -- TheKeineAhnung 22:02, 01 April 2024 (UTC)

The feature

healthcare=laboratory is mostly used for medical diagnosis, as hinted by healthcare=* for services. This will be more useful and publicized inside "biological" academic labs eg amenity=research_institute etc. Maybe amenity=laboratory was meant to be used inside amenity=university ?

I was thinking about this a bit today and I think it might be best to make it a general tag biosafety_level=1,2,3,4 instead of linking it to laboratory:biosafety_level=1,2,3,4? My original thought was to tag it with laboratory:biosafety_level (I just forgot it in the template box to write the laboratory before), but the longer I think about it, it would be better to make it a general tag, so it could used on amenity=research_institute or if required also on healthcare=laboratory. -- TheKeineAhnung 20:48, 02 April 2024 (UTC)
