Possibility to use 4th point

I really miss the possibility to use a fourth point to transform the picture. As it is now I can't project a aerial photo taken on an angle onto the map. I think this is called perspective distortion. --Gorm (talk) 12:54, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

Don't open a new image without a map already open

Warning: if you open a new image without a map already open, it will get permanently remembered to live at the equator. So one must rename the image and reload it. Jidanni (talk) 02:06, 21 January 2018 (UTC)

Do not press "Drag to scale picture in X and Y axis."

Do not press "Drag to scale picture in X and Y axis." It only makes the picture bigger and is undocumented and will erase the control points you just made. Jidanni (talk) 02:08, 21 January 2018 (UTC)

Method to view "Quick animated how-to" better

The Quick animated how-to will always be too quick for some users, who should try gifview -U on it. Jidanni (talk) 02:46, 21 January 2018 (UTC)

Is this suitable for loading large images?

I have a ~250mb PNG with about 5x5km at some 50cm resolution, but get an error that JOSM runs out of memory. Should I be able to get this image into JOSM using the plugin? Øukasz (talk) 10:00, 21 February 2020 (UTC)

Based on (5,000 m / 0.5 px/m)^2 * 3 Color Bytes/px that uncompressed image would need 300 MByte memory. Has it only 10,000 pixel in square? --Hb 20:10, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
The image is ~ 16,000x16,000 pixels, though greyscale only. --Øukasz (talk) 17:57, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
The decoded image alone needs 768 Mbyte without being calculated. The memory configuration for java virtual machines is troublesome, see https://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Download#Outofmemory --Hb 22:53, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
Understood, I will try to add memory to JOSM. Thank you for your help! --Øukasz (talk) 13:17, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
