A  relief is a is a sculptural technique where the sculpted elements remain attached to a solid background of the same material.

One can distinguish :

Physical characteristics
  • relief= : the technic used
    • relief=low - for a low relief
    • relief=high - for a high relief.
    • relief=low;high - some reliefs use both techniques so in these case use all the values
  • artwork:style=* - the characteristic style of the artwork (e.g. classicism, renaissance, art_deco, ...)
  • support=* - the support of the artwork : wall / pillar / column / pedestal / lintel / tympanum / frieze / pediment / ... See the photos below.
